Malay Beef Curry (Gulai Daging) |

Ingredients: (Serves 4-6) 500 gram Beef 1.5 cup of Water 1 cup of Oil 400 grams Potatoes 4 tbsp Meat Curry Powder 8 Shallots 6 clove Garlic 4 cm piece Ginger 4 cup Coconut Milk or Skinny Milk 4 cm piece Cinnamon Stick 3 cloves 2 Star Anise 30 grams Grated Coconut - pounded Salt and Sugar to taste Method: 1. Wash and cut the beef into bite sized pieces and drain. 2. Mix the curry powder with water. Fry the grated coconut until brown and fragrant. 3. Pound the garlic, ginger and shallots. 4. Fry the pounded ingredient until fragrant. Add in curry powder and also fry until fragrant. 5. Add in the beef with some water. Add in pounded coconut, star anise, cloves and cinnamon stick. 6. Add in potatoes, coconut milk/skinny milk and salt. Stir slowly to mix well. 7. Cover up and simmer until the potatoes are cooked. 8. Serve. |
