Traditional Pea Pulau

Ingredients: (Serves 6-8)

2 cup Long Grain Indian Basmati rice

2 cup Peas

2 cup tbsp Ghee

10 Cloves

5 cm Cinnamon stick

1 tsp Turmeric Powder

4 cups Hot Water

Salt to taste

2 large Onion

Method:

1. Wash, peel off and slice the onion. Heat up a pan with some oil, fry until brown and set aside for garnishing.

2. Wash and soak the rice for about 25 minutes. Drain and set aside.

3. Heat up ghee in a deep bottom pan, put in cloves, turmeric and cinnamon, mix well and stir for a while.

4. Add in rice and salt to taste, fry gently for 5 to 10 minutes with constant stirring.

5. Mix the peas and hot water with the rice thoroughly.

6. Pour the mixed rice into a rice cooker, cook until the rice is done with all the liquid is absorbed.

7. Serve together with fried onion as garnishing.
